France – Mayor of Houlgate wants to relocate the town’s casino

By - 16 ta’ Ottubru 2020

The mayor of Houlgate, a small tourist resort in northwestern France along the English Channel, wants to move the town’s casino from its historic 18th Century coastal building to a location further inland.

Mayor Olivier Colin said: “I want the casino to be transferred to a field near Pré Blandin. We’re not married to the current operator, the Vikings group. A competitive tender will have to take place.”

The current concession ends in 2025. The mayor wants the seafront casino to be replaced with a cinema with two rooms, a restaurant and a lounge bar.

The Houlgate casino generated gross gaming revenue of €5.870m in the 2018-2019 financial year, down 5.53 per cent, placing it 123rd place out of 202 casinos.
